“When Money is Not a Problem, I’ll Come Back, Hands Down”

Liki Tiki Village

17777 Bali Blvd

Winter Garden, FL 34787

Right. I stayed at this resort called “Liki Tiki Village” in August of 2005. This was back when Hurricane Katrina was nothing more than a tropical wave.I remember on the way to Liki Tiki, I was wondering “is this resort LGBT accepting?” When we get there, which from Charlotte, it would take about 10 hours to get there. Shit, we got into Jacksonville right during rush hour traffic. My phone didn’t work, so I couldn’t call anyone to tell them how Jacksonville (or Duval County) looked. Anyway, we got to Liki Tiki between 10:30a and 11:30a. The facade of the resort was just absolutely beautiful! The inside of the room we was in, was no different. I NEVER been in a motel room like that before. Even though, a little critter or two greeted me, I enjoyed it. There is an occasional thunderstorm, but it ain’t any different than what we see in Charlotte.

Y’all. I just figured out, we had a timeshare! I did not know that. In the morning around 8:00am (thank God they are in the same time zone), I walked around the entire resort, to 3 different continental breakfasts. They had one for regular folks, who didn’t have a timeshare. And then they had two others for those with timeshares. Shit, the regular continental breakfast was scurvy as hell. But, my cousin and family friend (literally) invaded the timeshare holder Continental breakfast, and they came back with fruit, bagels, juice, sausages, and like they had a whole big feast.

Around 7:00, I went to the pool area with the fitness centre attached to it, goddamn! I was hypnotized by this fine ass white boy. He looked like he was either in the 9th or 10th grade. He was just coming home from school (I didn’t even know those were apartments either).

The concierge desk people and bellhops are very courteous and was gracious with open arms to allow me in their inn.

The horrible drivers in Florida, and the continuation of cleanup from Hurricanes Frances and Charley ain’t hurt the reputation worth shit,

Money is hard to come by nowadays. When money is not a problem, I’ll come back, hands down. And I will be taking my family and my boyfriend with me.

On a Scale of 1(horrible)-10(excellent)

Cleanliness of Room- 9

Kindness of Staff- 10

Amenities- 10

Overall- 9.5

This is LGBT accepting, the last time I checked. I was closeted that time, but I didn’t give a damn when I was there.
